I am Zakia Azam and I live in Huriyan Basti near Bahawalpur. Life is a mysterious journey full of all sorts of encounters. With no formal education and an early marriage, I learnt the art of dress making and designing from my neighborhood female artisan. It’s been 30 years since I got married and started taking dress orders. Now my hand effortlessly weaves mukesh on fabric. Life caught me by surprise when my husband passed away seven years ago. But the love of my children helped me push through the setbacks and challenges. With Aangan, I wish to unleash my dreams and share Bahawalpur’s authentic expression worldwide.
