To everyone out there who thinks nobody cares, I see you.

I am affected by the lockdown just like you are. Probably in different ways but I am home bound as well. I look up to the sky and see the shining stars that have gotten clearer these past few weeks – its as if they are telling us to look at their light and keep the hope alive in our hearts. I never thought I would come across a time where leaving someone alone is considered an act of love. I never thought that the world would go on a sudden pause and will leave us wondering where we went wrong. I read the papers and watch the 24/7 streaming news channels and get terrorized by the hauntingly increasing numbers, just like you do. What they forget to mention is the greatness of Allah and how He kept Younas A.S alive and unharmed in the stomach of a giant fish. And he called out within the darkness’s, “There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.”

[Surat Al-Anbiya: 87]

If I dissect this Ayat in 3 parts, 2 parts are Allah’s praises and the last one is the recognition of one’s own deficiencies when it comes to Allah. I think we forget to say grace to Him when we are living in good times. Let’s just look beyond these newspapers, the TV channels and any other mediums that exaggerate the news and start thanking Allah for whatever we have and whatever He will bestow upon us for this world is a test and nothing else. I live in Lahore, I live in Karachi, I am Saudi Arabia and Italy, I am Paris – I am YOU.
